The Peugeot 504 was made in Argentina (by Sevel) until 1999 and wound up looking like this:
It was sold in Africa until 2006.

It's... rather strange... yet I'm okay with it.

there are actually a bunch of older cars still being made. I remember reading an article somewhere that South Africa (if Im not mistaken) was building Golf Mk1's up until somewhere in the 2000's.

For some reason, in Africa these were impossible to kill.
I recall Car und Driver testing a diesel version of this car and remarking on the use of a 160 mph speedometer in a car that could barely lift the needle halfway.

The 504 was the most powerful diesel car in the world on its introduction.
65 bhp.

And it was no lightweight. I drove a gas 504 oh so long ago, and it didn’t really have much of an ability to get out of its own way.

And I still think that they really improved the looks with the “new” tail lights.

I believe Peugeot was using “The Car of Africa” as the advertising tagline up through 2006.

And you can’t argue with that ....
